GREG MALCOLM
Malcolm uses both acoustic and electric instruments, one on his lap, a few on the floor, and manipulates them simultaneously to obtain several independent voices.
The hypnotic sound of evolving melodies, built upon layered drones, (created by mini fans, e-bows and floor guitars) is a characteristic of Greg's solo performance. The melodies utilize a variety of tones and sounds created by his unusually amplified acoustic guitar. Other than the e-bow and fuzz box all sounds are created live and organically by string manipulation techniques.

KISS THE ANUS OF A BLACK CAT
Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat is the solo project of the young Belgian musician and instrument-builder Stef Heeren. Heeren used to be in a punk band but choose to follow his own direction a few years ago. Kiss The Anus of a Black Cat makes dark folk songs with selfmade instruments, guitar, organ, bells...


IGNATZ
Growing up on a diet of '90s lo-fi, old blues and the Smithsonian Antology Of Folk Devens calls himself a lo-fi fascist. When he was just 15 years old he used to unroll old cassettes, rumple the tape and roll it back on. While recording he kicked his four-track to experiment with the wow-and-flutter effect or he just layed down his tapes in the pouring rain. Improvisation and spontaneity are two basic statements within Ignatz' musical universe. The final recording of a song is for Devens the end of a musical journey. Once the song is on tape, he erases the sampler that he uses for the effects what makes it unable for him to play it in the future. Everything is recorded in one take, so that nothing from the spirit of the moment will be lost. Structured songs and prepared pieces don't exist. Songs are build up while played and every time the next sound is a reaction to the previous one. Ignatz is the first cd of Bram Devens and is a compilation of songs that he recorded over the past year. The only instruments used are a guitar, effects, a sampler and Devens' his voice. The result is a simple but extra-ordinary sound that takes your breath. Ignatz' music stands for freedom, toughness, melancholy and foolishness

Those two could probably have been combined in some mysterious way if we'd known about what's going on. It's pity, Pitkä Mies, I would have liked to be there but I've already booked a table and they show 8mm porno which your mates probably will not do. Would it be a good idea to have in the web some sort of alternative Where to Shop This Week in Helsinki if you're a bit odd and broke?  The Finns don't do it so what about the foreign community your part of? yeah, i had no idea it happened at the same day. could have been a nice combination together, though. there used to be this alternative guide to what's happening in helsinki (a grey long one, photocopied), i think paid by myymälä2 (or at least sponsored by it) but haven't seen that one in a while...

oh well, we'll lose a bunch of money on this gig anyway...
